The Photographer:
Hello. I am not a photographer.
Well, I didn't start out as a photographer.
My entire life, I have had a vast interest in Nature. I have always enjoyed hiking, camping and the like. I have taken a lot of photos during my life, but mostly as a hobby or for the sake of having a memento. It was only in recent years that I decided to make a website of my photos. It was also during that time I decided to stick to one main theme, and Nature made the most sense. Photography is still very much just a hobby of mine. I am not a professional, and apart from the prints I will have available on here, I do not get paid for any of it. Taking photos of Nature is just something I like to do.
Web Design is also a hobby of mine, and has been since 1999. I had attempted to go to college once for a degree in web design, and even though it was something I enjoyed doing, it was not really what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.
Apart from an extreme passion for Nature, I also like the written word (i.e., books), arts, and attending medieval re-enactment events as a pirate. Aside from attempting to sell my prints, I write articles for GreenFudge.org (hence them being at the top of the link list). Rather than have you wade through the dozens of articles on the site, I am going to keep a list of those I have written. You can keep track of that list here. More will be added to it as they are published.
The Site:
Arkisaeo.com is a site idea I came up with several years ago. Well, I should say, I started using the Arkisaeo name for my site circa 2003, but didn't establish it as a .com until 2008. This all started simply because I love Nature. I rather enjoy hiking a lot, and I started taking photos along my hiking excursions years ago. I wanted to share the photos with friends of mine, and decided to make a website of it.
The Arkisaeo website has undergone many changes over the years, from being completely Flash rendered, to Javascript galleries, and now it uses good old HTML.
I am aware that some (or maybe even a lot) of people may not like the photos, or may think some were rather poorly shot or edited. That is fine for them, but the point of this website is not to post fantastic and beautiful photos. The point of this website is to show Nature to people, in all of her aspects. It is to show that nature is not just a precise, comforting and beautiful thing, but that nature can also be vague, ugly and even cruel.
