I'm not going to claim to be a professional photographer of any sort. I never went to college for it and I have no other background experience in the field whatsoever. To make 7 years of history rather short:
I have a vast interest in nature, so I decided to start doing nature photography.
In 2003, I created the first Arkisaeo website, which was mainly just a series of simple photo galleries.
By 2008, I finally decided to turn a hobby into a business of sorts and the online print shop opened.
Unless a print is sold, I make absolutely no money from doing this, so in a sense it is still very much a hobby. Any profits from this venture will go towards better equipment, travel expenses, and donations to environmental groups, organizations, or other causes.
Apart from being the sole operator/maintainer of this website and all content it contains, I write for the environmental news blog GreenFudge, attend medieval reenactment events, and keep myself busy with a number of other arts & crafts projects.
