Pine Creek is an area that includes several State Parks, numerous hiking trails, a vast amount of wildlife, and as the name states, a lot of Pine Trees. Pine Creek itself is the largest creek in the United States. The Iroquois called Pine Creek "Tiadaghton", which roughly translates into "The River of Pines" or "The Lost or Bewildered River".

Approximately 150,000 years ago, the Illinoian Glacial Advance had dammed the northern flow of Pine Creek, creating a number of glacial lakes. When the time came for the lakes to flood and drain to the south, it reversed the flow of the Creek and carved out new valleys. Many fossilized remains can still be found along the creek today.

One other thing to note, one of the parks along the creek is Little Pine State Park. A few years ago, the dam at this park had to be drained of all the water to clean up debris after a bad flood and storm season. Some of the photos you will find in this section are of what the area looked like without any water.
