This area is a natural water gap caused by Honey Creek. It has been used as Native American hunting grounds, a place to hold bush meetings, and (unfortunately) for decades of logging. There are ruins of an old sawmill that can still be seen along one of the trails. Reeds Gap is still very much a wilderness area, dominated by large White Pine, Oak and Hemlock trees.
